View and check an e-invoice

E-invoices carry their data as XML: XRechnung is only XML, while ZUGFeRD and Factur-X hide the XML inside a PDF. Open the file here to see the invoice data in a readable form — seller, buyer, lines, VAT, totals and bank details — and get it checked for mistakes. Invoices contain bank details and business figures, so everything happens locally: the file is not uploaded anywhere.

How it works

  1. Choose a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF, or an XRechnung XML file.
  2. Read the invoice: parties, lines, VAT breakdown, totals and payment details.
  3. Review the checks and download the embedded XML if you need it.

How files are handled

The invoice is read and checked directly in this browser. PDFflow does not upload the file, its name or its contents to its servers — the bank details and amounts in it stay on your device.

Typical uses

  • Read an XRechnung that arrived as an unreadable XML file.
  • See the data a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF passes to accounting software.
  • Check totals, VAT and the IBAN before paying an invoice.

Limitations

  • The checks help spot mistakes; they are not an official validation against the EN 16931 and XRechnung rules.
  • Other formats, such as Spanish Facturae or Italian FatturaPA, are not supported.
  • Encrypted and password-protected PDFs are not supported.

E-invoice viewer FAQ

Is my invoice uploaded?

No. The file is read and checked in your browser. PDFflow does not send the invoice, its name or its contents to any server.

Which formats can I open?

ZUGFeRD and Factur-X PDFs (all profiles), and XRechnung and Peppol BIS invoices as XML in both syntaxes, UBL and CII. Credit notes are supported too.

How do I open an XRechnung?

An XRechnung is an XML file that is hard to read on its own. Choose it here and the viewer shows it as a normal invoice with all amounts, parties and bank details.

What is the difference between ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and XRechnung?

ZUGFeRD (Germany) and Factur-X (France) are the same hybrid format: a PDF for people with the invoice data embedded as XML for software. XRechnung is the German standard for invoices to public authorities and is XML only. All follow the European standard EN 16931.

What do the checks look at?

Whether the lines, VAT and totals add up, whether required fields are present, whether the IBAN check digits are valid, the XRechnung buyer reference, and — for ZUGFeRD and Factur-X — whether the PDF page shows the same invoice number and total as the XML.

Does a passed check mean the e-invoice is valid?

No. The checks catch common mistakes, but they are not an official validation. For a formal check use the validator of your accounting software or the official XRechnung validator.

Is the e-invoice viewer free?

Yes. It is free, with no account or sign-up.
